2007
The first luxury portable spa
In 2007, the first luxury inflatable hot tub in the world hit the shelves and soon after the Lay-Z-Spa Premium & Platinum Series were born.
The idea was conceptualised here in the UK then designed and manufactured by Bestway® and the rest is history in the making..
2015
The first HydroJet™ nozzles are introduced
A pioneering development for for inflatable hot tubs - introducing powerful water jets like those found in expensive hard shell hot tubs
2019
Most energy-efficient inflatable hot tubs
An independent study of comparable products by comparable brands (by SGS Laboratories) found that Lay‑Z‑Spa hot tubs heat faster, use less energy to maintain a certain temperature, and are better at keeping the heat in and are therefore the most energy‑efficient inflatable hot tubs.
2019
Freeze Shield® is introduced
Lay‑Z‑Spa's pioneering Freeze Shield® technology automatically heats the water up to 10°C when it detect outside temperature goes below 6°C.
This revolutionised the use of inflatable hot tubs in winter.

WiFi connection and Lay-Z-Spa app
First introduced with the Milan AirJet Plus™ the Lay-Z-Spa app was launched to give complete control from any smart device.

EnergySense® energy-saving thermal insulation
First introduced in the Barbados AirJet™, EnergySense® is a pioneering development in inflatable cost-reducing thermal insulation.
The Barbados AirJet™ went on to win Energy-Efficient / Eco product of the year at the UK Pool & Spa awards.
2021
New look Lay-Z-Spa
In 2021 the new range of premium inflatable hot tubs from Lay-Z-Spa was released.
New logo, new pumps, new styles, new designs, new technology and a new way to relax with affordable homt luxury.

Brand new advanced multifunction pump
From 2021, all Lay-Z-Spa included the new, revised sleek-design heater pump.
This re-design included a more efficient multifunctioning pump with a flip-up digital control panel, drinks holders and Freeze Shield® as standard.

Scientifically proven benefits of using a Lay-Z-Spa hot tub
Until this research took place, there was very little documented evidence of the health benefits of hot tubs.
Independent research conducted by Coventry University’s Research Centre for Sport, Exercise and Life Sciences found that using a Lay‑Z‑Spa for 30 minutes shows positive benefits for mental health and cardiovascular health. This includes reducing both anxiety levels and stress hormones and reducing blood pressure.

ThermaCore™ insulated rigid foam Lay-Z-Spa
First introduced with the Toronto AirJet™, ThermaCore™ is a rigid foam construction.
Not only providing greater stability and firm sides, but this foam hot tub construction also has greater heat retaining properties offering 60% better energy efficiency than a traditional inflatable hot tub.

First introduced as an outer layer on a handful of hot tubs, in 2025 EnergySense® has became a pioneering, one-of-kind integrated thermal insulation inside the liner of our inflatable hot tubs.
Completely invisible from the outside,
our EnergySense® technology is up to 58.8% more energy efficient than a traditional inflatable hot tub.
