Sara is a prolific trail runner, fitness enthusiast and adventurer from Durham.
She commits to a lot of physical training for her runs and puts her body through challenging endurance. All of this can have a great impact on the body so Sara uses her Lay-Z-Spa for recovery after her training sessions or long runs.
We managed to catch up with Sara to ask her a few questions.
How did you get into running and fitness?
After working overseas for 24 years I used to just go to the gym, but when I returned to the UK 3 years ago, I moved to the North East and started running small amounts outside to stay fit as the gym was quite far away. I also got my dog Scooby who wanted to run with me.
How often and intensely do you train and go running?
I generally train five times a week with a mixture of strength training and running. I follow a running plan so do easy, interval, hill runs, tempos. I usually have a race on a weekend mostly a half marathon or 10km.

How do you prepare your body (and mind) before a big run and what do you do for recovery?
Before a race I make sure I’m hydrated and fuelled correctly. I don’t normally train the day before but will go on a long dog walk. I love walking my dog and listening to a podcast to calm my mind. I recover by lots of stretching, now I always go in the Lay-Z-Spa and I use a vibration roller to ease my muscles.
Aside from using your Lay-Z-Spa for recovery, how else do you benefit from it?
I use the spa all the time just to relax and chill out in. I quite often just sit in it without the bubbles on - it’s just so relaxing in the hot water with a drink. It’s great for when friends come around too - it just feels really luxurious to have in the garden.
